The Winchester-Frederick County Economic Development Commission (EDC) announces the “Spirit of Winchester” photo contest to run from January 4, 2010 until February 17, 2010. Grab your cameras and send in your best shot of what makes Winchester-Frederick County unique.

An overall grand prize winner and a 1st place winner from each entry category will be selected.  Entrants must indicate one of the following categories for their submission:

Entertainment/Events/Food
Industry/Business
Recreation/Sports/Landscape
History/Arts & Culture/Education
Housing/Infrastructure

Photos must be submitted digitally and must be high resolution, at least 300dpi. A completed Official Entry Form must accompany each entry.  Entries must be submitted individually. Entrants agree that the EDC retains the right to use their submission for publication, promotional, or any other related purpose without compensation or further permission. Entrants will receive attribution.

Winning photographs will be exhibited on the EDC’s web site, www.winva.com, and in future EDC publications.

Photos may not have been used commercially elsewhere before the contest and must have been taken on or after January 1, 2009.

The contest is open to all photographers, whether residents of Winchester-Frederick County or visitors to the community.  Each photographer may submit no more than 2 entries per category.

Each first-place winner will receive a $200 Visa gift card. One grand-prize winner will receive a $500 Visa gift card.

Winners will be contacted the week of March 1. Winners will be announced to media outlets and the public the week of March 15. Winners will be featured on the EDC website, in the EDC E-Newsletter, and on social media outlets.
